Definition of X-ray:

  • X-radiation is a high energy ionizing electromagnetic radiation like all electromagnetic radiation: X-rays have properties of both waves and particles.
  • X-ray scan be defined as weightless bundles of energy (photons) without an electrical charge that travel in waves with a specific frequency at speed of light. X-ray photons interact with the materials they penetrate and cause ionization.

Properties of X-ray:

The properties of X-rays can be classified into 4 broad categories:

  1. Physical
  2. Chemical
  3. Biological
  4. Physiochemical
