Disadvantages:

  1. Un-aesthetic restoration
  2. No bonding to tooth structure
  3. Risk of mercury toxicity
  4. Risk of Galvanic Shock
  5. Risk of Corrosion
  6. Are brittle and fracture if incorrectly placed
  7. Eventually show marginal breakdown
